Physics research groups in Mali
ISP Physics supports one research group at University of Science, Techniques and Technology of Bamako:
Capacity building in spectroscopy and atmospheric science
This research group at the Department of Physics at University of Science, Techniques and Technology of Bamako has received ISP support since 2010. Coordinator of the activities is Prof Abdramane Ba. The groups is also a member of the ISP supported AFSIN network.
Objectives
The main objective is to develop research capacity in spectroscopy and atmospheric science. The research area concern studies of samples in the agriculture particularly regarding the mango fruit, microscopy studies for detecting malaria in the bled cells, atmospheric measurements studies by DOAS. These three principal items are justified by; Mango fruit is a major export produce of Mali, Mali is an endemic country of malaria, and Mali is a Saharan and Sahelian country with a fragile ecosystem.
